Meditation Through the Seasons: Students will be introduced to simple chair and standing exercises done with a specific intent: to relax the body and quiet the mind. This inward focus while moving is a hallmark of the Eastern wellness modalities of Yoga, Qi Gong and T’ai Chi. Slow, smooth body movements are practiced to increase one’s flexibility, coordination, strength, and balance without putting undue stress on the major joints of the body.
The 5 Element theory of wellness, which correlates with 5 seasons, provides a structure for each class. Students learn how to support their body, mind and spirit throughout the year by energizing the body in ways that support both physical and energetic health.
